Sarah Lowther speaks to SDI Group CEO, Mike Creedon, about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. SDI Group is focussed on the design and manufacture of scientific and technology products for use in digital imaging and sensing and control applications. The company is listed on AIM and currently has a market cap of £173 million.

SDI Group sells a range of products across science and technology-based sectors, including cameras for PCR machines, flowmeters for ventilators, dosing equipment for the canning industry etc.

SDI Group has carried out 14 acquisitions since 2014. When looking to acquire new businesses, the company applies the following criteria: the right fit, succession planning in place, a cash-generative business, a primary focus on science and technology.

SDI Group has carried out several placings in the past and also has a loan facility of £20 million which can be raised by an additional £10 million if required. The company only relies on the loan facility for acquisitions, rather than as working capital, and does not envisage any further placings in the future.
