On a monthly basis, Smith News Group distributes around 75 million individual newspaper copies, as well as 24-25 million magazines. With a 56% market share, the company remains the UK's leading newspaper and magazine distributor.

Smith News Group distributes to every type of retail channel that takes newspapers and magazines, ranging from small independent newsagents to Tesco, Sainsbury's and WHSmith. The company's delivery promise includes a 99.5% pack accuracy, with 95% of outlets being served in advance of their required delivery time.

Smiths News Group has a stated capital allocation policy and is likely to see its net debt to EBITDA reduce slightly below 1x in the short term. In 2021, the business generated GBP 24 million of free cash flow, a 120% increase over 2020.

Smiths News Group currently offers a number of self-employment driver and van opportunities. The UK's shortage of drivers and warehouse operatives in September/October 2021 put some pressure on the company, and its current advertising specifically targets those who are now back in the market following season deliveries such as Black Friday and Christmas.
